Jesse Desmer South, 81, of Iron City, Tenn., died Monday, May 21, 2012. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, with burial in Old Bethel Cemetery.

Jesse was a native of Tuscumbia. He was preceded in death by his son, Jesse D. South Jr., and daughter, Teresa South.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah South; children, Janice Allred, John Wayne South, Karen Basswell, Jay Dee South Sr., Helen Dee Dyer and Candace South; foster daughter, Pam Harrison; siblings, John South, Joyce Robinson and Jo Ann South; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers are James White, Mitchell Wade, Benjamin South, Jerry Harrison, Donnie Miles, Donald Miles and Shawn Patterson.
